Lame Blogger, That's Me!
Guys, I just almost fell asleep reading my own blog! What a yawner. I'm working of my story-telling skills and my blogging abilities. So please, bare with me as I become more fun and creative.
Rebekah with a "K-A-H"
Ok, so maybe I'm not as cut out for this whole blogging thing as I thought I'd be. I mean, I've only written two posts and I'm already getting a little sick of it. Ok, ok--I'll try for a little longer before I give up, but don't blame me if you keep reading and you're bored to death. That's your own fault.
Because I've been such a journal slacker, I'll devote a few posts to share a bit of my history so when I'm 80 and get Alzheimer's I can look back and remember things like where I was born, where I've lived, my elementary years, crazy blind dates, etc. (Sad, I never want to get Alzheimer's).
So, here we go. Rebekah's history part 1. (Already sounds boring...)
My name is Rebekah Anne Hafen. Yes, Rebekah with a "k-a-h" and Anne with an "e". You get used to saying that when no one spells your name correctly. Don't get me wrong, I love the way my name is spelled, but having it misspelled on everything gets pretty annoying sometimes.
I was born on June 22, 1990 in Salt Lake City, UT. I was born in a hospital with a Catholic name (something like St. Mary's or St. Mark's...). Growing up my dad always told me that when I was born, the Catholic nuns took me and I was baptized into the Catholic church. I spent much of my childhood believing that I was baptized in both the Catholic and LDS church, and I did not like it. My dad is a nut--who would trick their child into believing that? Oh yeah, my dad would.
I only lived in Salt Lake for a couple of months before my family moved. We moved to either Dallas, Texas or Omaha, Nebraska. We lived in both places for a short time, but I can't remember which came first. (Oh no, the Alzheimer's is already setting in!) But, whichever one it was, I don't remember living there anyway, so I wouldn't have anything to share.
We then moved back to Utah we I was about 3 (or 2....or 4). My childhood must have been a blissful one, because I don't have any traumatic memories. Ok, not true. I do remember one day when I was but a little child. My uncle (about 11 at the time), decided he would like to ride my tricycle with me in the wagon behind him. Unfortunately, Daniel was a little too big for my teeny little tricycle and we fell right over. I must have landed pretty hard, because apparently my collarbone broke. Sad.
When I was 4 I was ready to start Pre-School. I attended Learning Dynamics for 2 years. I don't remember either loving or hating it...so it must have been pretty alright. I probably loved it though--I was such a teacher's pet all through elementary school. How obnoxious.
Well, I'm sick of this history stuff for now. Maybe throughout this blog little random memories and experiences will pop up. But until next time when I start on Rebekah's history part 2 (the elementary addition).

Epitome of Singles Ward
I am currently attending the Singles Ward in my stake. I must admit, I was quite skeptical of attending at first, what with all the stereotypes that come along with Singles Wards. Not that my ward doesn't fit those stereotypes--no, no. We most definitely fit them. But I have been in this ward for a little over a year now and I have come to love it!
First of all, I couldn't ask for a better bishopric! These guys are awesome! I think a huge reason many people actually stay in the ward is because of the bishopric. They are the nicest, friendliest, greatest men I've met. They know just how to work with delinquent single adults like us. Their testimonies show through their actions, and you can feel of their love for the people in the ward, as well as for their Savior. It's obvious that they love what they do.
Another reason I have come to love this ward more and more is because of the many opportunities I have had. I've been blessed to work in callings with fantastic people, and have learned so much from them and through my service. Not all callings have been my favorite--some I've enjoyed much more than others. But that doesn't mean I didn't learn a ton from them. Currently I am serving in two callings. I am the first counselor in the Relief Society Presidency. When I was called in I thought, "Seriously? Me? I am 19 years old." But as I have forgotten myself and come to love the sisters that I serve, I have been so humbled. As I pray to have understanding and to feel of the Savior's love for the sisters, my heart is open and I feel that I can love them in a way I never knew. Not to mention that Presidency meetings are always a hoot! The other calling I am serving in is the Activities Committee. That's no small calling--but boy do we have fun! I probably stress enough for everyone on the committee, but it always feels good when a Munch and Mingle or other ward activity is a big hit. I'm one who loves to make things happen, but I don't care to really be in the limelight. I just love seeing people have fun and everything look fabulous!
Reason number 3 for loving my ward is definitely the people. There are so many fun people that I have been so lucky to get to know. Many I've known since high school, but there are tons that I have just met from the ward too. Of course we have our share of "different" people, but that makes me love them even more! Heck--I'm the most "different" one out there! And proud I am. But there are so many awesome people, and I love it!
Here's the only problem with my ward: No one dates! Hello people! We don't have to be eternal companions, but come on! Take a girl on a date once in a while. I think people are too worried about dating someone in the ward because that means there is the potential awkwardness when it doesn't work out. Oh come off it people! You might pass up some fun times if you don't ask on dates. Secretly we love the ward, but can't wait to be un-single so we can graduate from the singles ward.......You know it's true.
You know when people ask you, "So are you dating anyone?" and we all reply with something like, "No, I'm just flying solo right now", or "Nah, just dating around". We make it sound like we're actually happy to be single. Lovin' the freedom. Ok, who is ever happy being single?! We all want someone to love--it's natural! When we're asked that we are reminded that "Oh, no one wants to date me--and you know what? I am SO happy about that".
But after all, I do have to give a shout-out to the Grandview 22nd Ward! World's best Singles Ward.

A Whole New World
I've always thought that blogs were for married people only. Singles with blogs were craving some serious attention. I have since changed my attitude (obviously...or else I wouldn't be typing this post this very minute). I decided to give into this whole "blogging world" not for anyone else but myself. This new blog, so creatively titled "Rebekah", is a place for me to post my thoughts. The soul intention of this blog is so I can keep a record of my ever-exciting life, and to remember the fun and funny things that happen to me on a daily basis. I guess you could call it my e-journal since old school journaling has never been my thing.
As I was putting together this blog I realized that I was spending much more time trying to make the blog cute than I was recording my thoughts. But I do have to mention--isn't this background darling? So me, right?
Anyway, back to the purpose of this blog. I hope this can be a place for me to share my thoughts, feelings, ideas, and testimony. I imagine one day my kids might want to know just how cool their old lady was at their age, and maybe this "journal" can help them learn a little more about me.
The good stuff begins tomorrow.
